Carolina Fight Promotions (CFP) was founded with the intent of bringing the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) back to the state of North Carolina. MMA had been banned in NC since 1995, when the UFC hosted "UFC #5" in Charlotte. Soon after the event, legislature created what was known as the "Ultimate Warrior Law." This was the law that single handedly eliminated MMA from our state. Over the last decade the sport has climbed in popularity nationally, by incredible leaps and bounds. MMA has become the fastest growing sport in America, producing huge revenues and drawing massive audiences around the world. Yet, the ban remained here in our state. Doug Muhle, founder of CFP, funded the lobbyists and worked tirelessly to see the law changed. As a result, CFP was the sole sponsor responsible for bringing MMA back to North Carolina!
